Vinesh Kumar is interested in questions of justice, freedom, and responsibility in everyday life. Through work across housing, support, training, and technology, he explores how organisations can help people live lives they have reason to value.
Trained originally as an engineer in India, Vinesh worked briefly in IT in Delhi and London before moving into health and social care. He holds a Masters in Health Policy from Imperial College London and has worked in management roles across public, private, and social enterprise sectors in the UK.
In 2014, he and his wife, Subha Kumar, founded iDirect in the South West of England, supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions to live ordinary lives in the community rather than in institutional settings.
He lives in Essex with his family. He reads and writes as a way of reflecting on practice, runs in Epping Forest, and coaches people of all abilities in athletics.
