Part 2: Grassroots Policies

The second webinar in this series focused on genetic modification, factory farmed animals and a pollution scandal.

This is the second in a series of talks and discussions that are being coordinated by Alicia Hull with Citizen Network.

Alicia was joined by guests:

Natalie Bennett, former Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales
Bel Jacobs, former Fashion Editor, Founder of The Empathy Project and Co-Founder of the Islington Climate Centre
Graeme Rushton, Farmer and Founder of Unearthed UK

Natalie Bennett discusses the hazards presented by gene editing technology and recent changes in UK legislation to allow targeted changes to the DNA of animals and plants.

Bel Jacobs describes negative impact of factory farming and our meat-based diet on climate, the natural world and on the welfare of animals themselves.

Graeme Rushton describes how metal detectors are finding increasing levels of scrap metal on farmers fields and beaches.

After the presentations the panel answered questions from the audience and discussed possible solutions and strategies.
