Is Basic Income Essential to the Good Life?

Simon Duffy gave this keynote for the Centre for Wellbeing in Public Policy as part of the Festival of Debate 2020.

Basic income involves a transformation in social and economic arrangements, but one that could significantly improve our physical and mental health. It also means challenging our understanding of ‘the good life’ and the roles of work, leisure and citizenship.

In this film Simon Duffy, co-founder of UBI Lab Sheffield and Director of the Centre for Welfare Reform, takes a fresh look at the ideas of work and wellbeing.

This keynote talk was hosted by the Centre for Wellbeing in Public Policy (CWiPP) at The University of Sheffield, as part of the Festival of Debate 2020 online.
