Tax-Benefit Reform is an essay that explains how the logic of self-directed support and the development of resource allocation systems could provide the basis for a radical and wide-ranging reform of the whole welfare state - with an especial focus on the changes that could be introduced to the tax-benefit system.
The essay describes the poverty net which emeshes millions of people in the United kingdom and which could be removed by a system that gave people both security and better incentives to promote their own well-being.
The essay is published in the recent collection of essays, published by Demos called Liberation Welfare. The essay available here includes the colour illustrations which have had to be removed from the DEMOS publication for reasons of cost.
