Building on Mutual Aid

Basic Income and Neighbourhood Democracy could help us reorganise society and shift power to citizens.

Dr Simon Duffy, Director of the Centre for Welfare Reform and co-founder of Citizen Network discusses citizenship and the lessons we can draw from the community response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He argues that we are close to being able to realise a major transformation in our community lives and in our understanding of democracy. Combining basic income and Neighbourhood Democracy could help us reorganise society and shift power to citizens and communities.
