Over 520 MPs, peers and councillors across the United Kingdom have written to the Chancellor requesting he support trials of Universal Basic Income across the UK as a response to the ongoing economic shocks caused by coronavirus.

This is a cross-party initiative that has been facilitated by the UBI Lab Network which began in Sheffield, co-founded with the Centre for Welfare Reform and Opus Independents, both members of Citizen Network.
There is now widespread support for basic income across almost the whole political spectrum and support from many civil society organisations including Basic Income UK, Basic Income Network Scotland, Citizen's Basic Income Trust, Compass, the RSA and many others.
