The Centre for Welfare Reform, in partnership with Relative Matters, is running a seminar in London on innovation and policy for older people.
Imagine a time in the future when you are old and need care and support. A meeting has been set up to discuss your options. What do you want? Use of care homes and complaints about them are increasing, the system has failed and we need a stronger message about the limitations of institutional care.
Think how we can make care at home a realistic alternative and put older people at the centre of their care, give them choice and control and treat them with dignity, compassion and respect. What would that take? How can we make sure relationships, love and community are central to people's thinking?
Years have been added to life. Now we must focus on adding life to years for older people. What do we need to do?
This event offers an opportunity to:
• Connect people and innovators
• Share experiences of innovation and good practice
• Explore possibilities and ways to create new realities
• Define a better direction for society and policy-makers
