A short film by Plena Inclusión on 'Apuyo Autodirigido' the Spanish term for self-directed support.
In this film by Plena Inclusión Simon Duffy explains the idea of self-directed support.
Self-Directed Support is the way to organise funds for support services. In the past, the government gave money to organisations supporting people with disabilities. In the future, these people control that money and make decisions about the supports they need in the community.
Plena Inclusión is the organisation that represents people with intellectual or developmental disabilities in Spain. They are currently exploring how to develop self-directed support in Spain, and they are members of the Self-Directed Support Network hosted by Citizen Network.
