Basic Income Research Group

Leading research on basic income to create a world where everyone has economic security.

The Basic Income Research Group is the world's oldest organisation advocating basic income.

Citizen Network is pleased to working in partnership with the Basic Income Research Group (BIRG) which was founded in 1984. Over the past few years BIRG was known as Citizen's Basic Income Trust, but it has recently reverted to its original name.

The Chair of BIRG is Professor Matthew Johnson and there is a new dynamic board overseeing its future development. Simon Duffy of Citizen Network is a Trustee of BIRG and can be contacted below. BIRG will be focusing on making the case for basic income and working in partnership with others who can lead campaigning action, including UBI Lab Network.

BIRG is currently changing its website. The original website can be found here, but there will be a new website shortly.
