Friendship - a practical guide published

A new best practice guide to help people build friendships and find love has been published by the Centre for Welfare Reform.

Release | 16.11.15

Kay Mills has written an inspiring, but entirely practical guide, on how to help people with learning disabilities (or other people who've become socially isolated) to build a life full of friendship, love and meaning.

This guide to 'Friendship' shares some of the many stories from Kay's own brilliant work over the last 20 years, but in a way that's easy to read and simple to put into practice. Kay doesn't use fancy and complex planning processes - she helps people believe in themselves and find creative solutions to problems we often run away from.

Dr Simon Duffy, Director of the Centre for Welfare Reform said:

"It's been an honour to know Kay for many years and to watch her inspiring work develop. She has an infinite capacity to find the positive in the most difficult situation and see can see light where others only see dark. She's never arrogant and she doesn't blind people with complex planning processes. Instead she empowers people to learn that everyone is entitled to a life full of love and meaning."
