A day to develop and practice our facilitation skills
Date: 27th November 2012
Time: 10.30 – 4.00
Venue: Sheffield – Saint Mary’s Church and Conference Centre, Bramall Lane, Sheffield S2 4QZ
As a Fellow of The Centre for Welfare Reform we would like to invite you to a day for Fellows and guests to learn about a dynamic approach to facilitation that pulls on many different perspectives and traditions – from the ancient practice of meditation to the more recent focus on taking a person centred approach.
We will reflect on issues such as the power between the facilitator and a group or individual; facilitation as a creative art form; techniques to help us open up to the ideas and energy of a group; ways of promoting citizenship without imposing our ideas or having a set agenda; and strategies to help us guard against cynicism and destructive criticism.
We will explore ways to keep ourselves strong as we facilitate delicate and sensitive issues with groups or individuals.
The day, which will be led by Pippa Murray, is relevant to experienced facilitators and those new to this type of work. The event is a chance to meet together and to link with people who are passionate about supporting citizenship for everyone.
The cost of the day will depend upon numbers. We anticipate it will cost between £15 - £20 per person.
