Demand for an assessment of human impact of the cuts

A wide range of disabled people's organisations, charities and advocacy groups have written an open letter challenging the government to evaluate the human rights impact of the combination of cuts to services, benefits and other changes that seem to target disabled people - including carers and older people.

The letter highlighted the  importance of the joint committee on human rights' (JCHR) 23rd report, Implementation of the Right of Disabled People to Independent Living, which calls on the government to publish a cumulative equality impact assessment of the effects on disabled people of current reforms.
