Don’t Use LD

Challenging language used by health and social care professionals.

Darlington Learning Impairment Network share a series of letters they have developed aimed at health and social care professionals.

The letters encourage people to think about and question the language being used in social care. For example the network says:

“We think rather than use “special” words to describe people and what happens to them, professionals should use everyday language and say it like it is.”

Please share and use the letters widely.
