Citizen Network Hits Parliament

Sharing our values: everyone is equal, everyone is different and everyone is a citizen at an event in Westminster.

Author: Simon Duffy

On the 2nd September Citizen Network organised an event in Parliament to talk about the values that underpin our work, the exciting work being done by our members and our plans to spread these ideas by creating neighbourhoods of care. We are very grateful to the Baronesses Sheila Hollins and Natalie Bennett for hosting our meeting in the House of Lords.

At the event we shared a presentation, see the link to the pdf below, and everyone from our diverse community was able to share what we are doing and learning.

Joseph Rowntree Foundation

“Disability Rights UK has become a member of Citizen Network because we see that we share the same values.”

Disability Rights UK

“We want to see people with lived experience like you, not just speaking at events like this, but becoming MPs and members of the House of Lords.”

Learning Disability England

“We love what we learn from Citizen Network. But these changes will only become possible if we change our basic economic model.”

Care Full

“We're pleased to work in partnership with Citizen Network on ideas like Basic Income Plus which could transform our current broken system of social security.”

Common Sense Policy Group

“Like you we see that there is much to learn from other countries, many of whom have not made our mistake of stripping away mutual support from neighbourhood life.”

Inclusion International

“We're proud to be part of Citizen Network and excited to take some of these idea and apply them in radical news ways to help end the evil of homelessness.”
