Nan Carle’s career has pushed at the frontiers of social inclusion from multiple directions. She has challenged and changed policy and practice to enable communities to have the skills and knowledge to resolve conflicts and unleash the power of individuals to support and care for one another.
During the 1980’s she managed services in Lewisham and North Southwark for people leaving long stay hospitals. She then spent 8 years with the Kings Fund College with a specialty in management and leadership development for managers in the NHS. She returned to the United States to work with the US Department of Health and Human Services with a special focus on substance abuse and minority health.
Nan currently works in Arizona with the Division of Developmental Disabilities as the commissioner of in-home services, residential supports for children and adults and vocational and day services for adults. She specialises in working with individuals who are dually enrolled with social services and behavioral health services.
Nan has a PhD and is also a certified coach working internationally in leadership and organisational development with a special focus on inclusive and creative approaches to building communities. The current economic downturn offers multiple opportunities to make substantial change whilst staying focused on positive and possible outcomes. Her work in integral coaching complements her wealth of experience in enhancing the capacity of managers to produce results that matter to individuals and to communities locally and globally. She is dedicated to developing managers to lead with integrity and vision.
Nan is permitted to live in Tucson, Arizona with her sentries Nikki and Max, two Pomeranians with enormous personalities. She is surrounded by a welcoming community of social innovators at the grass roots and political levels.
