I began my work as a facilitator and popular educator, focused on youth leadership in social justice in Toronto, Canada. In the 1980s I participated in the development of MAPS, a person centered planning process, with friends and mentors, Dr Marsha Forest, Judith Snow, and John O'Brien. Through this process I developed skills aa a graphic recorder and facilitator. I accompanied and supported support circles, families, and people with disabilities in finding valued roles as citizen and community member.
Throughout the 1990s-2000s I engaged my skills as a graphic facilitator in supporting organizations and communities in co-creating a desirable future in the realms of youth, community health, social planning, housing, poverty, and healthy communities. I supported the People First movement in Ontario and Canada.
In 2008 I moved to New Jersey where I collaborated with my partner (and wife) Patti Scott, through Neighbours International. Together we have traveled around the world consulting and offering education for communities, organizations and governments striving to make it possible for people with disabilities to live as valued contributing citizens. And, together we have developed videos and materials to provide a glimpse of what is possible.
